Welcome Friends,
My name is India Tungate and I am so glad that you are here
I began Story Book Photography “Officially” in the year 2017 however photography has been a part of my life since I was 11 years old. It is a part of my soul more than anything. I am a professional lifestyle photographer based in Central Kentucky and am extremely passionate about helping to document life’s most precious moments.
I promise to focus on capturing the real moments that you never want to forget, making sure everyone is comfortable, and that you leave our session with lots of laughs, fun memories, and a new bestie. It's the raw emotions such as a natural laugh, bright smile, or dripping tear, that tell a story. Your story. And Story Telling is what I am all about.
It is important to me that we are a great fit for one another. So take some time and explore the website, see if my style of photography fits your needs, read my about me (I’ll link it below) so you can know get to know me, and then if you want to book a session fill out my questionnaire so that I can get to know you better! I hope to hear from you soon.

Let me introduce to you the team at Y.L.G. Salon. 5 stylists who strive to make you feel your best! You can click HERE to check out their Facebook page and see some of their recent work. Not only is this environment sleek, modern, and cozy but these artists do just that, create art with each client that walks into their salon. I had such an amazing time working with this team and left with a huge smile on my face after all of the fun we had together. And then again as I worked on these photographs and loved everything we were able to capture together. Headshots are so much fun as well as supporting someone’s dream! That is why supporting Small Businesses are a big deal and I am always honored to help!! Thank you Y.L.G. for working with me.
Part two of our Branding session with the amazingly talented Courtney Campbell at her new location in Burnside KY. Courtney not only has serviced our local home town of Somerset but has also had the opportunity to travel and offer her wonderful artistic skills across surrounding areas. I am always left amaze at the images she shows of her art pieces and makes for a comfortable environment when sitting in her chair. I have loved the piece she has done for me and plan to be sitting in her chair again soon. Make sure you check her out! Thank you Courtney for allowing me to help capture you in your new place and in your element.
When Melissa reached out to me through Instagram, I had no idea that her whole family was from Texas. For her Parent’s 30th wedding anniversary, the whole family rented a gorgeous air bnb in Lebanon, Kentucky to spend the week together celebrating.I woke up at 5:30am and drove an hour and 40 minutes to spend the morning with them
I have wanted to photograph Highland cows for a long time now and finally I got to see them up close. Day. Made. Bucket list item checked off even though I would love to photograph them more and more. Thank you Katie for allowing me to tag along and capture these sweet Mommy & Me photos for you and your sweet baby boy. And a huge thank you to Hickory Hills Farms for inviting us to use their farm and cows for the best photo backdrop. I had the best time.
I have always wanted to have a session take place at a green house and my sweet friend, Ashley, welcomed us onto her property. Her greenhouse was full of beautiful and colorful flowers that created the most dreamy backdrop for our session. I was in awe with how these turned out.
OH the Slones Family, how much I adore them. In 2017 after I got my first “Big Girl Camera” and my photography kind of took off (Thank you Jesus), I did a Model Call for a family and I chose the Slone Family. We met in the middle - They lived in Lexington, KY and I’m from Somerset, KY. Our session went so well that
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I adore Jami Johnson and her businesses; Essentially Crafted Co & Two Thrifty Hippies. Jami and Erica are such a wonderful team of besties whom are a hoot to be around. Jami and I took a trip to the Lavender Farm together a few weeks ago and had an absolute BLAST photographing everything we could think of. We pet sheep, sniffed all the amazing lavender, chased some chickens to love on, and more. I knew the moment we snapped her photos I had to make a Blog Post to share my favorites from her session!!
I work my booty off (as does every photographer!) in the weeks that follow your session, editing, perfecting, and crying over your beautiful faces and the images we were able to capture together. And because this is a form of art, plus something so personal, it's value becomes infinite. Which is why I wanted to pass on some tips to those of you who just received their images and now are unsure of what to do with all of them.
I have had the honor of documenting the Robert Family for about 5 years now. Watching these girls grow into intelligent, kind, and gorgeous is such a blessing. The Robert’s always show up, ready to showcase their love for one another. I always leave their sessions feeling joyful and ready to edit!!! Here are some of my favorites from their session from last month. Thank you, Robert Family. You are loved!
Some of you might not know this but I Homeschool my children. Last week I was teaching my kids a lesson about how no matter what it is that we think we want to do, God’s plan will always prevail. And this can be with anything in life. We might think one way is the best way to go, but God could have other plans. How do you know when it is God’s plan, you might ask? How do you know when he gives those little nudges and whispers?
Well, I shared a little story that helped put some things into perspective for my children when they asked this and I will share it with you all. After all, it helps tell how I got into this Photography business.
